From agriculture land soil to pollution, India has many environmental issues that have been growing and in the coming period, there is greater scope for rising issues with over a billion people, poverty levels on the rise and deforestation on the rise, there are many hard pressing issues ahead.

Poor irrigation systems, low level land management, improper disposal of industrial waste, lack of fresh water resources, drought and contamination areas with toxic discharges and vehicle pollution has been some of the major environmental issues in India. There is also a need for proper sanitation systems in many parts of rural India.

NAVODAYA Yuva Kendram (NYK) is actively working on environmental issues and helping people to resolve with local governance and in bringing new phases of change such as by fixing sanitation systems, supply of clean water, setting up gardens, cleaning the proximity areas and such other local programs.

NAVODAYA Yuva Kendram (NYK)  opines that environment issues require a lot of awareness workshops among rural communities to make them understand the significance and importance of clean premises and how it affects people at all levels of their living. 

Another important aspect is river pollution in India that has been sweeping across all rivers. Destroyed by chemicals, sewage, agriculture and industrial waste.

NAVODAYA Yuva Kendram (NYK) collaborates with local and national agencies to work for environmental issues and finds solutions for each of these locations.  Certainly, this is quite a big challenging work, but NAVODAYA Yuva Kendram (NYK) is able to take the initiative with its team and the support of public and autonomous bodies and execute works to effect change.
